A young couple longs for greens from a witch’s garden (‘Below’). The husband steals some to satisfy his wife who is with child, but when he returns for more, the witch catches him (‘Don’t Touch It’). In exchange for his life, he promises to give her their unborn child. Years later, the witch has locked the girl, Rapunzel, in a tower deep in the woods.

One day, a prince hears Rapunzel’s beautiful singing (‘Below’ Rapunzel’s version) and climbs the tower using her long braid . They fall in love (‘I’m Your Prince’) and secretly meet again and again. However, the witch discovers them, confronts Rapunzel (‘Betrayed by the Braid’), and sets a trap for the prince (‘Don’t Touch It’). The prince falls from the tower, landing in bushes that blind him.

Rapunzel is taken far away but eventually escapes. She returns a year later and finds the prince; her tears of joy heal his blindness. The two are reunited and live happily ever after (‘We Are One’).
